Mercedes Benz India launched an updated version of Mercedes Benz CLA 200 in 2017. The German automaker holds a reputation of refreshing it cars to bring them in line with the new overarching design philosophy. The upgraded version of the car has received subtle changes making the vehicle look fresher than ever.
The compact sedan from Mercedes has been launched in three different trims. The base trim is a diesel variant, the 200d Style, and has been priced at approx. INR 31,40 lakhs. The petrol variant is priced at approx. INR 33.68 lakh.

Exterior features: The car comes with new set of headlamps, full LED with its modules in the company-standard ‘leaf’ design. Mercedes has retained the same 17-inch alloy wheel design, also-profiled taillights and a differently shaped chrome strip between the distinctively styled exhaust tips. They have redesigned the bumper with new chrome inserts. These cosmetic changes give the Mercedes Benz CLA 200 a bold look beating its competitors in line.
Interior features: The car comes with a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen (the previous one was a 7.0-incher) for the updated Cockpit Management and Data system (COMAND) infotainment system. The CLA always had driving modes, but with the incorporation of 'Dynamic Select', the driver has an added capability of toggling steering and engine response between ‘Comfort’ and ‘Sport'. The added equipment of CLA include Aux and Bluetooth options, cruise control, a rear camera (albeit without parking sensors), a large panoramic sunroof, driving modes and automatic headlights.
Mercedes BenzCLA200 is surrounded by plush leather seats, soft-touch plastic on the dash and sturdy plastics elsewhere. The design is added luxury with sporty turbine-like air-con vents, clean and intuitive buttons, high-definition screen and red-needled instrument binnacle.
The most wonderful feature of CLA is electrically adjusted front seats. Legroom is adequate, not outstanding, headroom is sparse, and the slit-like windows make everything feel even more cramped.
When it comes to Safety of its passengers, CLA comes with six airbags, adaptive braking, hill-start assist, ABS, Merc’s Attention Assist system, and an electronic stability program.
Engine Specifications: The CLA 200 uses the same 1991cc, four-cylinder turbo-petrol with a power rating of 184hp and giving the maximum torque of 300Nm. The engine is quite responsive and comes with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox which complements the car’s sporty orientation rather well. The vehicle includes different engine modes – Comfort, Sport and Eco. The selection of engine alters the engine and gearbox response.
